Pro-Khalistani Terrorist Threatens Kapil Sharma After Attack On His Canadian Cafe: Reports

Comedian and actor Kapil Sharma has received an open threat from Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, founder of the pro-Khalistan group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), following a violent attack on Sharma’s newly launched cafe in Surrey, British Columbia.
Pannun, who was declared a terrorist by India’s Ministry of Home Affairs in 2019, reportedly released a provocative video targeting Sharma. In it, he accused the comedian of disguising Hindutva ideology under a business front and demanded he “return the blood money to Hindustan.”
“Canada is not your playground,” Pannun declared, further questioning whether Kap’s Cafe was a “comedy venture or a strategic front to export Hindutva.” He warned that Canada would not allow such ideologies to gain ground, signaling a stern rejection of Sharma’s presence in the country.
The threat emerged days after an incident involving gunfire at Kap’s Cafe, which had only recently opened. The attack occurred around 1:50 AM local time on Thursday. According to reports, the assault was claimed by individuals identified as Harjit Singh Laddi and Toofan Singh, both allegedly linked to the banned terror organization Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
Following the attack, Kap’s Cafe issued a heartfelt message on Instagram, “We opened Kap’s Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversation. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock but we are not giving up.”
The incident is part of an escalating pattern in which overseas Khalistani-affiliated networks are increasingly targeting Indian-origin individuals and businesses, particularly those with public ties to India or a prominent public presence.
