PoK Will Return to India Soon, Says Defence Minister Rajnath Singh

India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh declared on Thursday that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) will rejoin India in the near future, citing strong emotional ties between PoK residents and India.

Speaking at the Confederation of Indian Industry Annual Business Summit-2025 on May 29, Singh emphasized that most people in PoK maintain a profound connection with India, with only a minority having been misguided.

“The situation of our brothers living in PoK resembles that of Maharana Pratap’s younger brother Shakti Singh,” Singh stated. He expressed confidence that through love, unity, and truth, PoK would eventually declare, “I am India, I have come back.”

The minister described PoK residents as India’s family members, affirming the nation’s commitment to “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” and expressing faith that those currently separated would rejoin India’s mainstream.

Operation Sindoor Success Highlights Make in India

Singh praised Operation Sindoor as proof of the Make in India campaign’s importance for national security and economic growth. He noted that the operation demonstrated the campaign’s success to the entire nation.

“Make in India has proven essential for both India’s security and prosperity,” Singh said, adding that without this domestic capability, Indian forces couldn’t have executed such effective counter-terrorism operations from lower Pakistan to PoK.

Strong Warning to Pakistan

The defence minister delivered a sharp warning to Pakistan, stating that supporting terrorism carries heavy consequences. Singh announced that India has redesigned its counter-terrorism strategy and recalibrated its engagement with Pakistan.

“Pakistan has realized terrorism isn’t cost-effective,” he said, adding that future dialogue would focus exclusively on terrorism and PoK issues.

About Operation Sindoor

Operation Sindoor was a comprehensive military action conducted by Indian Armed Forces on May 7, 2025, targeting nine terrorist facilities across Pakistan and PoK. The operation responded to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, where Pakistan-backed terrorists killed 26 civilians, predominantly Hindu victims.

This operation represents India’s evolved approach to cross-border terrorism, establishing a new doctrine treating such attacks as acts of war.
