PM Modi Meets Mauritius Counterpart Navinchandra Ramgoolam in Varanasi, To Hold Bilateral With Focus On Stronger Ties

Kathmandu : Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted his Mauritius counterpart Navinchandra Ramgoolam in Varanasi today. The talks are scheduled to last for about two hours, after which Prime Minister Modi will depart for Dehradun, where he will undertake an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in Uttarakhand.

The two leaders will review bilateral cooperation, with a focus on development partnership and capacity building. The Varanasi Summit will mark a significant milestone in the shared journey of India and Mauritius towards mutual prosperity, sustainable development and a secure and inclusive future, it added. The state visit of Ramgoolam, who arrived in Mumbai on Tuesday, will conclude on September 16.

When Prime Minister Modi visited Mauritius, the two nations elevated ties to enhanced strategic partnership and inked eight pacts to boost ties in several sectors, including maritime security, and promote trade in local currencies. During the visit, PM Modi also announced India’s new vision for Global South and named it “MAHASAGAR” or “Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions.
