New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged accelerated, mission-oriented reforms in multiple sectors to ensure sustained economic growth, during a key consultation with leading economists and experts at NITI Aayog in preparation for the Union Budget 2026-27.
The discussion centered on the theme ‘Aatmanirbharta and Structural Transformation: Agenda for Viksit Bharat’. Modi emphasized the importance of developing top-tier capabilities and deeper global integration to position India effectively on the world stage.
He highlighted that policymaking and budget decisions must stay firmly aligned with the long-term goal of achieving a developed India by 2047. The Prime Minister also stressed the need for the country to maintain its role as a key supplier of skilled workforce and a major player in international markets.
Describing Viksit Bharat as more than just a governmental objective, Modi noted that the ambition for a fully developed nation by 2047 has evolved into a widespread public movement embraced by citizens across the country.
The meeting included Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bery, CEO BVR Subrahmanyan, and other senior officials. This interaction forms part of the government’s pre-budget consultations to gather expert insights on self-reliance and economic restructuring.
