PM Modi Urges Reforms to Boost Women’s Workforce Participation at NITI Aayog Meeting

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, presiding over the 10th NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting on Saturday, called for comprehensive reforms in both public and private sectors to enhance women’s participation in the workforce. Emphasizing the need for policies that improve working conditions for women, Modi highlighted the importance of creating an environment conducive to their professional growth.

The meeting, themed “Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat@2047,” saw attendance from chief ministers and lieutenant governors of 24 states and seven Union Territories. Modi urged states to capitalize on global investment opportunities, noting significant interest from international investors in India. He pointed to recent trade agreements with the UAE, UK, and Australia, encouraging states to leverage these pacts to maximize economic benefits.

Additionally, Modi advocated for the development of world-class tourist destinations, proposing that each state create at least one globally competitive site with robust infrastructure. He suggested that 25-30 such destinations could be established nationwide, fostering regional development. The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of health service delivery, urging states to ensure oxygen availability and preparedness for potential Covid-related challenges.

Modi announced plans for a Rs 1 lakh crore seed fund to support the growth of Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, underscoring the need for urban development to align with India’s rapid urbanization. The discussions underscored a collaborative vision for transforming states into engines of progress to achieve a developed India by 2047.
