Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at an event in Bengaluru, attributed the success of Operation Sindoor to India’s technological advancements and the Make in India initiative. The operation, which he said humbled Pakistan in a matter of hours, showcased the progess of Indian defense technology, with significant contributions from Karnataka’s youth, particularly those in Bengaluru. Modi’s remarks were part of a broader visit to the city, where he inaugurated key infrastructure projects aimed at boosting urban mobility and connectivity.
The Prime Minister began his day by flagging off the Vande Bharat Express train connecting Bengaluru to Belagavi at Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) Bengaluru City Railway Station. He also virtually launched two other Vande Bharat trains, linking Amritsar to Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Nagpur (Ajni) to Pune. These high-speed trains are designed to enhance intercity travel efficiency, reflecting India’s push for modernized rail infrastructure.
Modi then turned his attention to Bengaluru’s Namma Metro, inaugurating the long-delayed Yellow Line, a 19.15-kilometer stretch from R.V. Road to Bommasandra. This corridor, expected to ease traffic congestion in the city’s tech hub, particularly around Electronic City and the Silk Board junction, was a focal point of his visit. The Prime Minister took a metro ride from Ragigudda to Electronics City, engaging with students during the journey. He also laid the foundation stone for the Metro Phase-3 project, known as the Orange Line, which spans over 44 kilometers with 31 elevated stations and is valued at more than ₹15,610 crore.
Addressing the audience at the “Next-Gen Mobility for a Next-Gen City” program, Modi attempted to connect with locals by delivering parts of his speech in Kannada. He emphasized Karnataka’s role in advancing the Make in India vision, urging the state to produce defect-free, environmentally sustainable products. The event, reported by ANI and DD, highlighted Bengaluru’s growing significance in India’s technological and infrastructural landscape. However, the visit prompted traffic restrictions across key routes in Bengaluru, including Marenahalli Main Road and Hosur Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
