PM Modi’s Marathon Mission: 8-Day, 5-Nation Tour to Strengthen Global Ties

New Delhi: On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on an eight-day diplomatic journey across five nations, marking his longest international trip in nearly a decade. The itinerary includes visits to Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia, with a key focus on attending the BRICS Summit in Brazil.
The tour kicks off in Ghana, where Modi will engage in bilateral discussions to bolster ties. This visit is notable as the first by an Indian prime minister to the African nation in three decades. Following this, Modi will travel to Trinidad and Tobago from July 3 to 4, marking the first visit by an Indian leader to the Caribbean nation in 27 years. The Prime Minister will meet President Christine Carla Kangaloo and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to strengthen bilateral relations.
Next, Modi will head to Argentina at the invitation of President Javier Milei. This visit, the first bilateral engagement by an Indian prime minister in 57 years, underscores the intent to deepen ties with the South American nation. In Brazil, Modi will participate in the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro from July 6 to 7 and hold bilateral talks with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Brasília, the first such visit by an Indian prime minister in nearly six decades.

The tour concludes in Namibia, where Modi will meet President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and address a joint session of the Namibian Parliament. This visit, the first by an Indian prime minister to Namibia, aims to reinforce historical bonds rooted in shared struggles against colonialism.
This eight-day journey, spanning two continents, surpasses Modi’s previous five-nation tour in 2016, which included the United States, Mexico, Switzerland, Afghanistan, and Qatar. The trip underscores India’s commitment to enhancing partnerships with key Global South nations and advancing multilateral cooperation through platforms like BRICS, the African Union, ECOWAS, and CARICOM.
