Pakistan using Turkish Drones to Target India; 500+ Drones Were Used to Target 24 Indian Cities

In a press briefing held on Friday, the Indian government stated that the Pakistani military may have used Turkish-manufactured drones during coordinated attacks on Indian cities on the night of May 8, 2025.

According to preliminary forensic analysis of wreckage recovered from intercepted drones, the models appear to be Turkish-made “Assisguard Songar” units. These drones are typically used for reconnaissance and precision-targeted operations, officials said.

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, who jointly addressed the media, confirmed that Pakistan violated Indian airspace at multiple points along the western front with the objective of targeting military infrastructure. “On the intervening night of eighth and ninth May, the Pakistan military carried out several airspace violations,” she said.

Singh further noted that heavy-caliber weapons were also fired by Pakistani forces along the Line of Control.

Drone activity was reported extensively across the border areas. “From Leh to Sir Creek, aerial intrusions were recorded at thirty-six locations,” Singh said, estimating that 300 to 400 drones and other non-kinetic technologies were deployed during the operation.

The government suspects the intrusions were aimed at testing India’s air defence systems and conducting surveillance.

The press briefing was part of a broader response from Indian authorities following the recent escalation in cross-border hostilities.
