Pakistan Targets Indian Regions with Drone Attacks; Punjab, Jammu and Rajasthan Under Alert

In a renewed escalation, Pakistan launched drone attacks targeting multiple locations across three Indian states on Friday. According to official reports, drones were fired at eight sites in Jammu and Kashmir, two in Punjab, and one in Rajasthan.

The affected areas in Jammu and Kashmir include Jammu, Samba, Uri, Poonch, Handwara, Rajouri, Nowgam, and Kupwara. In Punjab, Pathankot and Amritsar were targeted, while in Rajasthan, the attack was aimed at Pokhran. Indian defense forces successfully intercepted the drones.

Residents in Pathankot and Jammu experienced blackouts and air raid sirens for the second night in a row, following earlier strikes on military installations. Power outages were also reported in Srinagar.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah shared real-time updates on social media platform X. “Intermittent sounds of blasts, probably heavy artillery, can now be heard from where I am,” he posted.

He further appealed to the public to remain indoors and avoid spreading misinformation. “It’s my earnest appeal to everyone in & around Jammu please stay off the streets, stay at home or at the nearest place you can comfortably stay at for the next few hours. Ignore rumours, don’t spread unsubstantiated or unverified stories & we will get through this together,” Abdullah wrote. The situation remains tense as authorities monitor developments closely.
