Pahalgam Terror Attack: Army Chief to Visit Kashmir Tomorrow; MEA Briefs G20 Envoys Including China, Canada

New Delhi: In response to the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 civilian lives, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi is set to visit Srinagar on Friday to assess the ground situation and ongoing counter-terror operations.

According to defence officials cited by ANI, General Dwivedi will receive a comprehensive briefing from senior commanders, including the General Officer Commanding of the 15 Corps and leaders of Rashtriya Rifles formations. The discussions will focus on current anti-terror measures in the Kashmir Valley and along the Line of Control.

Meanwhile, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has launched a diplomatic outreach, briefing G20 envoys on the attack. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri addressed ambassadors and senior diplomats from several countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, China, Russia, and Canada. The closed-door session, held at South Block in New Delhi, reportedly lasted around 30 minutes.

The MEA confirmed that the meeting was part of a series of measures approved by the Cabinet Committee on Security in the wake of the attack. As a significant step, India has also suspended visa services for Pakistani nationals with immediate effect.

The outreach underscores India’s intent to keep its global partners informed and aligned amid rising regional tensions.
