Pahalgam Attack Probe Set to Expose Pakistan’s Role on Global Stage: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated on Friday that the thorough investigation into the April terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of around 26 people including tourists, will place Pakistan under intense scrutiny internationally.

Speaking at the inauguration of the two-day Anti-Terrorism Conference-2025 organized by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in New Delhi, Shah described the probe as a “complete and successful” effort that agencies worldwide will examine as a model in the coming days.

The assault in Pahalgam’s Baisaran meadow targeted tourists and aimed to undermine communal harmony while hindering the emerging tourism and development in Kashmir, according to Shah. India has accused Pakistan of supporting the attackers, allegations denied by Islamabad.

Indian security forces responded decisively by neutralizing the three perpetrators and targeting planners through operations, delivering a firm message to those backing terrorism from across the border.

Shah highlighted the Pahalgam case as an exemplary “watertight investigation,” alongside other recent probes. He unveiled key NIA initiatives during the event, including an updated crime manual, an Organised Crime Network Database, and a database for lost, looted, and recovered weapons.

Emphasizing the link between organized crime and terrorism, the Home Minister announced plans for a comprehensive “360-degree assault” on organized crime networks in the near future. He urged police chiefs across states to fully implement these new frameworks and called for standardized Anti-Terrorism Squad structures to enhance coordination and intelligence sharing.

Shah noted improved collaboration among major security forums, stating that the Anti-Terrorism Conference serves as a unifying platform for action-oriented outcomes in the fight against evolving threats.
