NEW DELHI: Satellite images released by the Indian Armed Forces have laid bare the extensive destruction inflicted on nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) during “Operation Sindoor,” a retaliatory strike launched on May 7, 2025, following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.
The before-and-after imagery reveals the precision and impact of the Indian military’s operation, which targeted key infrastructure linked to terror groups Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen. Among the sites obliterated were the Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur, a JeM stronghold, and the Markaz Taiba in Muridke, a primary LeT base. Other locations included camps in Muzaffarabad, Kotli, and Sialkot, all reduced to rubble, as confirmed by the visual evidence.

The operation, executed between 1:05 a.m. and 1:30 a.m., utilized advanced weaponry, including SCALP cruise missiles and HAMMER precision-guided bombs, to dismantle the terror facilities. The Indian defense ministry emphasized that the strikes were carefully calibrated to avoid civilian casualties and Pakistani military installations, underscoring a “focused and non-escalatory” approach.
Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, addressing a press briefing alongside Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, presented the satellite images to the media, highlighting the operation’s success in neutralizing terrorist infrastructure. The ministry reported that at least 70 terrorists were eliminated, including 10 family members and four aides of JeM chief Masood Azhar.

The operation was a direct response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack, where 25 Indian civilians and one Nepali citizen were killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists. The Indian government’s swift action, backed by credible intelligence, aimed to dismantle terror networks responsible for planning cross-border attacks.
Pakistan’s response included ceasefire violations along the Line of Control, with artillery fire reported in Bhimber Gali, resulting in civilian casualties. The Indian Army stated it was responding in a measured manner to these provocations.
