New Delhi : Nitin Nabin is set to formally assume the post of National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shortly. Ahead of officially taking up the job, Nabin visited multiple renowned temples in Delhi, including the Jhandewalan temple, the Valmiki temple, and the Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place. He was accompanied by Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, and Delhi Minister Parvesh Saheb Singh Verma during his visit to the religious sites.
Nabin has been provided with Z-category security by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), sources within the ministry told India Today. The Z-category security detail consists of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) commandos. According to sources, the incoming BJP chief was granted Z-category security only a few days ago on the basis of the Intelligence Bureau’s (IB’s) threat perception report.
Nitin Nabin is an undefeated five-time MLA from the Bankipur Assembly Constituency in Bihar.
He has a reputation for winning elections by huge margins, starting with the first bypoll he contested in 2006. He won that particular election by nearly 60,000 votes. Last year, Nabin won his latest term as MLA by more than 51,000 votes. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP leader repeated the success formula. The BJP won 10 of the 11 seats in Chhattisgarh.
With a background in the RSS, Nabin is seen within the party as an organisationally rooted leader possessing strong ideological credentials. This positions him as a generational shift in the BJP’s top leadership. Nabin was born in Ranchi and is married to Deepmala Shrivastava. The couple has two children: a son and a daughter. Nabin’s election to the post of BJP chief on Monday came unopposed after he emerged as the sole candidate in the organisational election, according to an official press statement issued by the BJP Central Election Authority.
