17 Workers Injured in Nagpur Temple Construction Collapse

Nagpur – A construction accident at the Koradi temple site in Nagpur left 17 workers injured after a slab collapsed during gate construction along the Khaparkheda to Koradi Temple route. The incident, which occurred under the supervision of the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA), prompted immediate rescue efforts and medical attention for those affected, according to officials.

No fatalities were reported, though initial concerns arose that some workers might have been trapped beneath the debris. Authorities confirmed that all injured individuals sustained minor injuries and were promptly transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Heavy machinery was deployed to clear the rubble, ensuring no one remained trapped. A local eyewitness, Ratnadeep Rangari, recounted the chaotic scene, stating, “We rescued nine people. They were injured and covered in blood after the slab gave way.”

Sanjay Meena, Metropolitan Commissioner of NMRDA, addressed the incident, noting that 15 to 16 workers were affected but none suffered serious injuries. “The construction of the Koradi temple was underway, managed by contractors under NMRDA,” Meena told. He emphasized that a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the collapse, adding, “We can only comment on the reasons after a detailed inquiry.”

Inspector Krupal Mule of the 5th Battalion NDRF, also confirmed that a physical and canine search found no trapped individuals. He suggested that equipment vibrations might have triggered the collapse, though further debris clearance was needed to confirm this. Nagpur Joint Commissioner of Police Navinchandra Reddy assured India Today that all injured workers were stable and receiving care, with debris removal ongoing.
