“Morena Man ‘Suicide’ Questioned as Assault Video Shows Family Attack”

BHOPAL: The investigation into the death of 46-year-old Harendra Maurya from Gandhi Colony, Morena, has taken a dramatic turn after a video surfaced showing him being attacked by his family. Initially reported by relatives as a suicide, Maurya’s case is now under renewed scrutiny.
On the night between Saturday and Sunday, Maurya’s family informed the Kotwali police that he had taken his own life. In line with protocol, the police sent his body for an autopsy. However, a two-month-old video uploaded on January 2, 2025 has raised serious doubts. The footage allegedly depicts Maurya being beaten with sticks by his wife, daughter, and other family members.
This disturbing video has prompted the police to seek a second opinion from forensic experts at Gwalior’s lab. Authorities are now considering the possibility of murder and abetment rather than a straightforward suicide.

Police sources mentioned that Maurya had issues with drug addiction, which frequently led to conflicts within his family. Morena SP Samir Saurabh commented, “The case was initially recorded as a suicide. However, after this video emerged showing an assault, we are exploring other angles.” Investigators are actively questioning family members, and the forthcoming forensic report will be crucial in establishing the true cause of Maurya’s death.
