Monsoon Chaos in Himachal: 10 Dead, 34 Missing as Floods Devastate State

Heavy monsoon rains have unleashed widespread destruction across Himachal Pradesh, claiming at least 10 lives and leaving 34 people unaccounted for, according to officials. The relentless downpours, marked by cloudbursts and flash floods, have hit Mandi district hardest, with the subdivisions of Thunag, Karsog, and Gohar bearing the brunt of the disaster.

The catastrophic weather events have caused significant property damage, sweeping away homes, vehicles, and infrastructure in multiple areas. In response, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have mobilized extensive relief operations, setting up emergency shelters and distributing essential supplies such as tents, blankets, and food to affected residents.

The devastation began with a cloudburst on June 25, which triggered widespread destruction in Kangra and Kullu districts. The Centre is closely monitoring rainfall and river levels, particularly in vulnerable areas like Jyuni Khad, which is flowing above the danger mark. With more rain forecast, authorities have urged residents in high-risk zones to remain vigilant and adhere to evacuation orders issued by local officials.
