DRDO Achieves Milestone with Successful Dual Pralay Missile Salvo Launch off Odisha Coast

New Delhi — India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully executed a salvo launch of two homegrown Pralay missiles from a single launcher on Tuesday, marking a significant step in the weapon system’s validation.

The tests took place off the Odisha coast at approximately 10:30 a.m., forming part of user evaluation trials. Both missiles adhered precisely to their planned paths and achieved all designated objectives, as verified by monitoring instruments at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur. Final-phase performance was further confirmed via telemetry data from vessels stationed close to the impact zones.

The Pralay is a solid-propellent quasi-ballistic missile featuring advanced navigation and guidance mechanisms for exceptional accuracy. It is designed to accommodate various warhead types, enabling it to strike diverse targets effectively.

Senior DRDO scientists, along with officials from the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and industry collaborators, observed the launches.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh extended congratulations to the DRDO, the armed forces, public sector undertakings, and industry partners for the accomplishment, noting that the salvo firing has proven the Pralay system’s dependability. DRDO Chairman and Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D, Dr. Samir V. Kamat, also praised the participating teams, highlighting that the success signals the missile’s nearing preparedness for operational deployment in the services.
