Preliminary reports suggest that the fire may have been triggered accidentally during Diwali celebrations after fireworks were lit on the premises. Within minutes, the flames engulfed the multi-storey building, destroying household items, furniture, and electrical appliances. Police teams and fire officials responded immediately after receiving emergency calls. Thankfully, no casualties or serious injuries have been reported so far.
Recent Rise in Fire Incidents in Ghaziabad
Wednesday’s incident follows a string of fire outbreaks reported across Ghaziabad during Diwali week. On the night of the festival, the district recorded at least 48 minor and major fire calls. The most serious of these occurred in Sanjay Nagar, where three closed shops sustained extensive damage and half a dozen parked two-wheelers were gutted.
In another case, a blaze erupted in the slum area and a scrap warehouse in New Hindan Vihar, producing thick plumes of smoke visible from a distance. Fire services deployed four engines to contain the situation.
Authorities have urged residents to avoid lighting fireworks in densely populated areas and to follow safety protocols during the festive season to prevent similar mishaps in the future.
