
Mumbai: Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik is scheduled to release a comprehensive white paper on Monday, outlining the severe financial challenges facing the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), widely known as ST. According to the Free Press Journal, the report will provide a detailed overview of the corporation’s escalating losses, revenue streams, expenditures, outstanding debts, and unpaid dues.

MSRTC, which operates a fleet of over 14,000 buses serving routes within and beyond Maharashtra, is grappling with a daily deficit of Rs 1–2 crore. The corporation’s cumulative losses have now surpassed Rs 10,000 crore. Transport department officials, as cited by the Free Press Journal, state that the white paper aims to deliver a transparent assessment of MSRTC’s financial distress while proposing a strategic plan for its recovery.
