LeT Co-Founder Amir Hamza Hospitalized in Lahore After Home Accident

Amir Hamza, co-founder of the proscribed terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has been hospitalized following an accident at his Lahore residence, according to reliable sources with knowledge of the situation.

While social media reports claimed Hamza had suffered gunshot wounds, investigations have determined these allegations to be unfounded. Sources confirmed that his injuries resulted from an incident within his home, though specific details about the nature of the accident remain unclear.

Hamza, one of the 17 founding members of LeT, has a significant history as an Afghan mujahideen veteran and has been widely regarded as a principal ideologue for the organization. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his inflammatory rhetoric and extensive writings, having previously served as editor of LeT’s official publication and authored several books, including “Qafila Da’wat aur Shahadat” (Caravan of Proselytising and Martyrdom) published in 2002.

The United States Treasury Department has formally classified Lashkar-e-Taiba as a terrorist entity and designated Hamza personally as a sanctioned terrorist. Intelligence sources indicate he held positions on LeT’s central committee and was instrumental in their fundraising operations, recruitment activities, and negotiations for militant releases.

Following Pakistani authorities’ financial restrictions on LeT-affiliated charitable organizations Jamaat-ud-Dawah and Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation in 2018, Hamza reportedly separated himself from Lashkar’s operations. He subsequently established a breakaway group called Jaish-e-Manqafa, allegedly to sustain militant activities, including operations in Jammu and Kashmir.

Indian media outlets report that this splinter organization operates without restriction within Pakistan and that Hamza maintains ongoing communication with LeT leadership.

As of this report’s publication, Pakistani officials have not released any formal statement regarding Hamza’s medical condition or the circumstances surrounding the accident.
