Indore couple Case:Kangana Ranaut Condemns Act

Sonam Raghuvanshi, accused of orchestrating the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon in Meghalaya, has been apprehended by authorities. The Indore couple, married on May 11, 2025, had traveled to the scenic state for their honeymoon when the tragedy unfolded. Raja’s body was discovered on June 2 in a gorge near Weisawdong waterfalls in East Khasi Hills, prompting a police investigation that led to Sonam’s arrest in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, on June 9.
Meghalaya Police allege that Sonam conspired with her lover, Raj Kushwaha, and three others Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand Kurmi to carry out the killing. The suspects were detained across Uttar Pradesh, Indore, and Sagar. Authorities claim the plot was devised just days after the couple’s wedding, with Sonam luring Raja to a remote hilly area under the pretext of a photoshoot on May 23, where the murder took place.
Sonam initially claimed she was drugged and unaware of how she ended up in Ghazipur, but East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police officer dismissed this as a fabricated story. “She knew her co-accused was under investigation, so she crafted this narrative,” officer told. Police investigations revealed that Sonam used Raja’s phone to post on social media after his death, raising suspicions. Additionally, the couple’s one-way tickets to Meghalaya, despite Raja’s preference for Kashmir, further implicated Sonam in the planning.

The case has sparked widespread attention, with Bollywood actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut condemning Sonam’s actions. In a detailed Instagram Stories post, Ranaut described the murder as “cruel, heinous, and cold-blooded,” calling Sonam “dumb” for her alleged role. Ranaut’s remarks reflect public outrage over the chilling crime that has gripped the nation.
