Kalyan Lift Horror: Man Booked for Assaulting, Trying to Bite 13-Year-Old Boy at Knifepoint

Kalyan: Police have registered a case against a 35-year-old man for violently attacking a teenage boy inside a residential building elevator in Ambernath East.

The shocking incident occurred on July 4th when the 13-year-old victim, heading from his 14th-floor home to tuition class, was in the building lift. As the elevator opened on the 9th floor, he initially pressed ‘close’ but then hit ‘open’ upon seeing his friend’s father, Kailash Tanwani, and a woman waiting outside.

“The moment uncle [Tanwani] entered the lift, he started slapping me repeatedly,” the boy told TOI. Tanwani then allegedly attempted to bite the boy’s hand, but the teenager managed to push him away. A woman present tried unsuccessfully to intervene and stop the assault.

After the three exited the lift, Tanwani reportedly slapped the boy again. He also threatened the minor with harm using a knife, according to the complaint. The incident gained widespread attention after CCTV footage circulated, prompting Kalyan police to file a formal FIR against Tanwani on Tuesday.
