IndiGo Restarts Middle East Flights Following Qatar Airspace Reopening

New Delhi: IndiGo, India’s largest airline, has begun resuming its flight operations to the Middle East after a brief suspension prompted by regional tensions. The move follows Qatar’s decision to reopen its airspace on Tuesday, which had been temporarily closed on Monday due to missile strikes by Iran targeting U.S. military bases in Qatar and Iraq. The airline’s flights to key destinations in the region faced delays or rerouting during the closure, but IndiGo is now cautiously restoring services as airports resume operations.
In a statement, IndiGo announced, “As airports across the Middle East gradually reopen, we are prudently and progressively resuming operations on these routes.” The airline emphasized its commitment to passenger safety, stating it is closely monitoring the situation and evaluating the safest flight paths to ensure secure travel. Passengers are advised to check IndiGo’s mobile app or website for updates.

Other airlines have also responded to the evolving situation. Emirates reported that it rerouted some flights on June 23 but avoided significant diversions, maintaining schedules with routes clear of conflict zones. Qatar Airways, heavily affected by the airspace closure at its Doha hub, has resumed operations and deployed additional staff at Hamad International Airport to assist passengers. The airline urged travelers to verify flight statuses via its website or app.
IndiGo’s measured approach to resuming flights has provided relief to thousands of Indian passengers. As stability returns to the region’s aviation network, travelers can anticipate safer and smoother journeys.
