IndiGo Flight Halted on Lucknow Runway: MP Dimple Yadav Among 151 Passengers Safe

Lucknow – An IndiGo flight bound for Delhi from Lucknow was forced to abort its takeoff on Saturday morning due to an engine malfunction, causing alarm among the 151 passengers on board, including Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav, wife of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. The incident occurred at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport around 10:30 a.m..
The aircraft, IndiGo flight 6E-2111, was accelerating on the runway when it failed to achieve the necessary thrust for liftoff. The pilot promptly notified Air Traffic Control, applied emergency brakes, and safely halted the plane, averting a potential disaster. Suraj Singh, a passenger linked to the Samajwadi Party, described the sudden stop as panic-inducing in a social media post, noting that the crew quickly reassured passengers and explained the technical issue.
Following the incident, the aircraft was returned to the terminal for inspection. IndiGo engineers worked for hours to diagnose the problem but faced challenges in pinpointing the exact fault. All passengers, including MP Dimple Yadav, who was traveling in business class, were safely transferred to an alternative flight to Delhi. The airline issued an apology for the inconvenience caused.
This event adds to recent concerns about IndiGo’s operational reliability, with similar incidents reported earlier this month, including a flight to Abu Dhabi returning to Kochi due to a technical issue and an Airbus A321 tail strike in Mumbai during heavy rain. The swift response of the pilot and crew ensured no injuries, and the safe transfer of passengers underscored the airline’s commitment to safety amid ongoing technical challenges.
