Indian Woman Stabbed to Death in US Apartment; Ex-Boyfriend Suspected After Fleeing to India

A 27-year-old Indian woman, reported missing since New Year’s Eve, was discovered stabbed to death in her former boyfriend’s apartment in Maryland, authorities have confirmed.
Howard County police identified the victim as Nikitha Godishala, a data and strategy analyst from Ellicott City. Her body, bearing multiple stab wounds, was located during a search of an apartment belonging to her 26-year-old ex-boyfriend, Arjun Sharma.
Police said Sharma himself filed a missing person report on January 2, claiming he last saw Godishala at his residence on December 31. However, on the same day he reported her missing, Sharma boarded a flight to India.
Investigators executed a search warrant at the apartment on January 3, uncovering Godishala’s body. Based on their findings, detectives believe Sharma fatally stabbed her shortly after 7 pm on December 31.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Sharma on charges of first- and second-degree murder. Howard County police stated that the investigation remains active, with no motive yet established. They are collaborating with federal law enforcement agencies to track down and apprehend the suspect.
