Indian Family 3-Year-Old Daughter Kidnapped In Libya While Attempting Illegal Migration To Portugal

An Indian family of three, including a toddler, has reportedly been abducted in Libya and held for a ransom of Rs 2 crore ($240,000) during an attempted immigration journey to Portugal. Kismatsinh Chavda, his wife Heenaben, and their three-year-old daughter Devanshi were seized by kidnappers in the North African nation.
The family was captured in Libya while traveling to Portugal, where Kismatsinh’s brother resides, according to Mehsana Superintendent of Police Himanshu Solanki.
Their journey commenced on November 19 from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, traveling to Dubai without valid visas. The family then proceeded to Benghazi city in Libya, where they were kidnapped before completing their onward journey. A non-Indian agent based in Portugal facilitated their travel arrangements, Solanki stated.
The family intended to establish residence in a European country and undertook an undocumented journey to Portugal via irregular routes. The abductors contacted relatives in Mehsana demanding Rs 2 crore ransom, prompting family members to seek assistance from authorities, including district collector SK Prajapati, on Friday.
Solanki confirmed that both the state government and the Ministry of External Affairs have been informed about the incident.
