India Slams OIC Over Pahalgam Attack Remarks, Calls Statement ‘Absurd’ and Politically Driven

India has issued a firm response to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) following its recent remarks on the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, labelling the statement as “absurd” and “politically motivated.” The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) accused Pakistan of influencing the OIC to further its anti-India agenda.

The sharp rebuttal from the MEA came after the OIC’s New York chapter released a statement on the April 22 terror strike in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, many of whom were tourists. The statement from the OIC appeared to question India’s position on the incident.

“The OIC’s statement, issued at Pakistan’s behest, blatantly ignores the realities of the Pahalgam terrorist attack and its cross-border origins,” the MEA stated. “This is another attempt by Pakistan, a known sponsor of cross-border terrorism, to manipulate the OIC for its own narrative. India strongly rejects such interference in its internal affairs.”

What Did the OIC Say?

According to Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency, the OIC expressed “deep concern” over the worsening security dynamics in South Asia and criticized what it called India’s “unfounded allegations” against Pakistan. The group claimed such accusations were aggravating tensions between the two nations.

Reiterating its long-standing stance against terrorism, the OIC also emphasized that it rejects any attempt to link terrorism with any particular country, race, religion, or nationality.

India-Pakistan Tensions Escalate

Tensions between India and Pakistan have heightened since the Pahalgam attack, which India blames on cross-border terrorism supported by Pakistan. In response, India has taken significant steps, including suspending the implementation of the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty and closing the integrated Attari Check Post, demanding that Pakistan end its backing of terror groups.

India continues to maintain that Pakistan must take credible and irreversible steps to dismantle terrorist infrastructure operating from its soil.
