New Delhi: India has unveiled a new electronic visa category the e-Production Investment Business Visa (e-B-4) enabling Chinese business professionals to enter India for designated commercial purposes, such as equipment installation and commissioning operations.
According to a recent notice posted on the Indian Embassy’s official website in Beijing, the e-B-4 Visa became available starting January 1 and can be obtained entirely through online channels, eliminating the need for embassy visits or intermediary agents. The visa processing timeline spans approximately 45 to 50 days from application submission, granting holders authorization to remain in India for a maximum of six months.
The visa category covers a broad spectrum of business activities, including installation and commissioning work, quality assurance inspections, critical maintenance services, production operations, IT and ERP system implementation, workforce training programs, supply chain vendor development and empanelment, facility design and startup operations, as well as visits by senior management and executive personnel, the advisory states.
How to Apply
Indian corporations seeking to host Chinese nationals under the e-B-4 Visa program must register through the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade’s National Single Window System portal at https://www.nsws.gov.in/ by accessing the ‘Login-Business User Login’ section. Individual applicants may file their e-B-4 Visa requests directly on the platform https://indianvisaonline.gov.in through the ‘For e-Visa by Bureau of Immigration’ option, ensuring all required documentation is uploaded with the submission, the notice indicates.
The visa initiative represents one of several people-focused measures that India and China have recently implemented as both nations work toward normalizing bilateral relations.
