New Delhi: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan emphasized the critical need for India to advance its military technology, warning that outdated systems are ill-equipped for contemporary warfare. Speaking at a workshop on UAV and Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) indigenisation in New Delhi on Wednesday, he urged the adoption of cutting-edge innovations to secure the nation’s defense.
“We cannot fight today’s battles with yesterday’s weapons,” Chauhan declared, stressing that modern conflicts demand next-generation technology. He underscored the importance of reducing India’s dependence on foreign technologies for strategic operations, stating, “Relying on imports undermines our readiness.”
Referencing India’s Operation Sindoor in May, the CDS revealed that Pakistan employed unarmed drones and loitering munitions along the border. “Our forces neutralized most of these threats using both kinetic and non-kinetic methods,” he said, adding that no damage was inflicted on Indian military or civilian infrastructure.
