New Delhi: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has officially announced the revised date for the CA Intermediate Paper 5 (Auditing and Ethics) examination, ending days of uncertainty for thousands of aspirants.
According to the notification released on Monday, the examination—originally scheduled for January 19, 2026—will now be conducted on January 31, 2026 (Saturday).
Revised Schedule and Logistics
The institute confirmed that despite the change in date, the logistical framework for the examination remains unaltered.
- Timing: The exam will be held during the originally assigned time slot of 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM IST.
- Venue: The test will be conducted at the same examination centers across India and overseas as previously allotted.
Admit Card Instructions
In a move to minimize inconvenience, the ICAI has clarified that candidates do not need to generate or download new hall tickets. The admit cards already issued for the original date will remain valid for the rescheduled examination on January 31.
The regulatory body also issued a strict directive regarding the permanence of the new schedule. The notification emphasizes that the examination will proceed on January 31 as planned, even if the date is subsequently declared a public holiday by the Central Government, State Governments, or local authorities.
Status of CA Foundation Exams
The institute also used the announcement to dispel confusion regarding other ongoing examination cycles. The ICAI explicitly stated that the schedule for the CA Foundation January 2026 exams remains unchanged. The remaining Foundation papers will proceed as per the original timeline on January 20, 22, and 24, 2026.
Background
The rescheduling follows a sudden postponement announced by the ICAI on January 17, 2026, which had put the Group II, Paper 5 examination on hold. Candidates are advised to visit the official website, www.icai.org, for any further regulatory updates.
