In a tragic incident in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area, Asif Qureshi, cousin of Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi, was fatally stabbed during a dispute over a parking space. The altercation occurred late Thursday night, around 10 p.m., in Jangpura Bhogal Lane, when Asif, aged 42, asked two neighbors to move their scooter from the entrance of his home. The request sparked a heated argument that quickly escalated into violence.
Asif’s wife, Shaheen Asif Qureshi, recounted the events, stating that the neighbor’s scooter was parked directly in front of their house. When Asif politely asked the owner to relocate it, he was met with verbal abuse and threats. Moments later, the neighbor, accompanied by his brother, returned and allegedly attacked Asif with a sharp weapon. Despite efforts to save him, Asif succumbed to his injuries due to significant blood loss before his brother-in-law, Javed, could get him to a hospital.
Shaheen also told that the accused had previously attempted to harm her husband over similar parking disputes, indicating a history of tension. Saleem Qureshi, Huma Qureshi’s father and Asif’s uncle, expressed his grief, explaining that the confrontation began when Asif requested the two men to move their scooter to avoid blocking the entrance. The situation turned deadly when the pair attacked Asif, leading to his death.
Delhi Police have arrested the two suspects involved and recovered the weapon used in the crime. A murder case has been registered, and authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover further details. Asif, who ran a chicken business in the capital, leaves behind a grieving family and a shocked community. Huma Qureshi has not yet released a public statement regarding the incident. The tragedy underscores the alarming escalation of a seemingly minor disagreement into a fatal act of violence in the heart of Delhi.
