Heartbreaking Ahmedabad Riverfront Tragedy: Woman Jumps into Riverfront With Two-Year-Old Girl, Both Die

A devastating scene unfolded at Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Riverfront yesterday evening. A woman, accompanied by her two-year-old daughter, jumped into the river, leading to deeply emotional moments captured on camera. In a viral video, the child is seen clinging to her deceased mother’s floating body, desperately fighting for survival.

What’s the Incident

The tragic event took place on August 15 around 6pm in the Usmanpura stretch of the Riverfront. The girl was rescued from the water, and CPR was administered, which initially prompted her to cry. However, she later died at the hospital after water filled her lungs.

Mother’s Death

Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the woman had arrived at the Riverfront with her young daughter. Nobody anticipated her intention to leap into the river. Upon realizing what had happened, bystanders, local police, and the Riverfront rescue team immediately responded and launched a rescue operation. Unfortunately, only the child was found alive at first, while the mother was declared dead on the spot.
