Haryana University Addresses Viral Suitcase Prank Video Involving Female Students

A private university in Haryana has clarified that a widely circulated video showing a girl emerging from a suitcase on a hostel campus depicted a playful prank among students. The incident, which occurred at O P Jindal Global University in Sonipat, prompted swift action from the institution, which emphasized its commitment to student safety.

On Sunday, a university spokesperson explained that a group of female students had been jokingly transporting their friend in the suitcase within the girls’ hostel. The activity moved to a common corridor under CCTV surveillance, where security personnel noticed unusual behavior and intervened.
The university has taken the matter seriously, issuing showcause notices to the students involved and requiring them to appear before a disciplinary committee. “The safety and security of our students are of utmost importance,” the spokesperson stated, adding that the institution acted promptly to address the incident.
O P Jindal Global University reiterated its dedication to maintaining a secure environment, noting that the prank, though intended as harmless fun, had escalated by occurring in a public area of the hostel.
