Green Flag Sparks Brief Tension at Maharashtra Temple, Police Restore Calm

A green flag hoisted at a temple in Pachegaon village, located in Maharashtra’s Beed district, briefly stirred unrest among locals, police reported on Tuesday. Authorities stepped in swiftly, engaging with residents from two communities to defuse the situation by Monday evening.
The incident unfolded during a festival in Pachegaon, tied to the Gudi Padwa celebrations on Sunday, when a traditional yatra procession commenced from the Kanifnath temple. The following day, which coincided with Eid, a green flag appeared alongside the temple’s saffron flag, prompting a temporary flare-up of tension, according to an official from Georai police station .
After discussions with members of both communities, the police oversaw the removal of both flags from the temple, restoring peace to the village. The official confirmed that no formal case has been filed related to the matter.
