Govt Labels Delhi Blast a Terror Attack, Pledges to Bring All Culprits to Justice

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday unequivocally condemned the November 10 car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, declaring it a “heinous act of terrorism” and reaffirming the government’s resolve to bring all those involved — the perpetrators, collaborators, and sponsors to justice.

The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, passed a resolution expressing deep sorrow over the loss of 12 lives and injuries to over 25 others in the blast. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw read out the resolution, which described the attack as “a heinous terrorist incident perpetrated by anti-national forces.”

The Cabinet observed a two-minute silence in memory of the victims and extended heartfelt condolences to their families. It also lauded the medical teams and emergency responders who provided immediate aid to the injured in the aftermath of the explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station.

Cabinet Reaffirms Zero-Tolerance Policy

Calling the car blast a “dastardly and cowardly act,” the resolution reiterated India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism in all its manifestations. The Cabinet also noted that multiple governments and international organisations had expressed solidarity with India in the wake of the attack.

The resolution further praised the swift and coordinated actions of security forces, local authorities, and citizens who demonstrated courage and compassion amid the chaos.

“The government remains steadfast in safeguarding the lives and security of all citizens,” the resolution read, adding that the ongoing investigation must continue with “the utmost urgency and professionalism.” Officials confirmed that the case, suspected to be linked to cross-border terror networks, is being monitored closely at the highest levels.

Investigation Underway

The fatal explosion, which destroyed several vehicles near the 17th-century Red Fort monument, occurred around 6:52 pm on Monday evening. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken charge of the probe amid suspicions of an organised terror plot with international connections.

Prime Minister Modi has also chaired separate meetings of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), directing agencies to ensure that “no conspirator remains beyond the reach of law.”
