Govt Airline Launches ‘One Route, One Fare’ Model — Same Ticket Price, Anytime You Book

In a bid to make domestic air travel more affordable and predictable, the government has rolled out a new flat-fare initiative for flyers. Under the ‘Fare Se Fursat’ scheme launched by government-owned carrier Alliance Air, passengers can book flight tickets at a fixed rate that won’t change, no matter when the booking is made.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu officially launched the initiative in New Delhi on October 13. The scheme, described as “freedom from fare stress,” will initially run on a pilot basis from October 13 to December 31, 2025, across select routes. Civil aviation secretary Samir Kumar Sinha, Alliance Air chairman Amit Kumar, and CEO Rajarshi Sen attended the launch event.

The fixed-price model aims to eliminate the anxiety caused by constantly changing airfares and ensure transparency and predictability for passengers even for last-minute bookings.

“The scheme aligns perfectly with UDAN’s core mission of making flying accessible and affordable for every Indian,” Naidu said, referring to the government’s Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik initiative. He said Alliance Air is fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “democratising air travel” for India’s middle and lower-middle classes.

The minister also highlighted new passenger-friendly projects like the Udan Yatri Cafes, offering tea for ₹10, coffee for ₹20, and snacks for ₹20 at airports. “This step addresses one of the biggest concerns of passengers unpredictable ticket prices,” Naidu added.

Calling Alliance Air the “backbone” of India’s regional connectivity program, he praised the airline for connecting Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities under the UDAN scheme. “With the ‘One Route, One Fare’ idea, Alliance Air has set an example for the aviation sector,” he said.

Currently, India’s aviation industry uses a dynamic pricing system, where ticket rates fluctuate based on demand, timing, and competition often frustrating passengers with steep last-minute prices. The static fare policy, the ministry said, is expected to attract first-time flyers from smaller towns.

Alliance Air presently operates 137 flights a day, connecting 59 domestic destinations and one international route from Chennai to Jaffna, Sri Lanka. Its fleet includes 18 ATR72-600 aircraft, two ATR42-600 planes, and one Dornier Do-228, known for offering “no middle seat” comfort.

The airline’s network includes Bhubaneshwar, Diu, Silchar, Guwahati, Shimla, Kullu, Gorakhpur, Rourkela, Jabalpur, and Tirupati, with notable routes such as Delhi–Shimla, Hyderabad–Tirupati, and Kolkata–Guwahati.
