The management expresses profound grief and is deeply shaken by the tragic loss of lives resulting from the unfortunate incident at Birch. The devastating fire that swept through a popular beach club in North Goa has killed 25 people, including club staff and tourists, bringing to light serious illegalities and the laxity of government officials in enforcing safety norms.

The facility allegedly did not even possess a fire department’s permission to function. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who vowed stricter action, said, as per initial information, the nightclub had not adhered to fire safety norms. The Goa police have arrested five — club’s chief general manager, Rajiv Modak, general manager Vivek Singh, bar manager Rajiv Singhania, and gate manager Riyanshu Thakur and apter operations manager Bharat Singh from Delhi.

Authorities sealed a beach shack and another club, both part of the Romeo Lane chain. A state police team has also reached Delhi to track down the property promoters — Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra — against whom a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered.
