Chhattisgarh Encounter Leaves Four Naxalites Dead in Bijapur

In a significant anti-Naxal operation, security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district neutralized four Naxalites during a clash on Saturday evening, according to police reports. The confrontation occurred in a forested area in the southwestern part of the district, following intelligence inputs about the presence of Naxal cadres, as stated by Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range), Sundarraj P, to PTI.
The operation, which involved a joint team of security personnel, led to the recovery of a substantial cache of weapons, including INSAS and SLR rifles, from the encounter site. The gunfight erupted during a targeted mission aimed at disrupting Naxal activities in the region, with search operations continuing in the area, police confirmed.
This incident adds to the tally of 225 Naxalites killed in Chhattisgarh this year, with 208 fatalities reported in the Bastar division alone, encompassing districts such as Bijapur, Bastar, Kanker, Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Sukma, and Dantewada, per police records cited by Live Mint. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has repeatedly affirmed the government’s resolve to eliminate Naxalism by March 31, 2026, emphasizing ongoing efforts to curb the insurgency.
