FIR Filed Against TMC MP Mahua Moitra For ‘Objectionable’ Remarks Against Amit Shah

New Delhi : A case has been registered against Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra in Chhattisgarh over her controversial remark on Union Home Minister Amit Shah, where she allegedly said his “head should be cut off and put on the table”. The Lok Sabha MP on Friday stirred a row after she said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s head should be chopped off for failing to check the infiltration of illegal Bangladeshis into India.

Moitra said border security was the responsibility of the Home Ministry and Amit Shah couldn’t shirk it and blame the Trinamool government for infiltration – a hot-button topic ahead of the 2026 Assembly election. ister not only undermines democracy but could also embolden disruptive elements. “I filed the complaint with a very heavy heart. I come from the same community as her and it is an insult to the entire community when she talks so embarrassingly wrong about the home minister.

Speaking to reporters in Bengal’s Nadia district, Moitra said border security was the responsibility of the Home Ministry and Amit Shah couldn’t shirk it and blame the Trinamool government for infiltration – a hot-button topic ahead of the 2026 Assembly election. The complainant argued that such provocative language against a senior constitutional office like the Home Minister not only undermines democracy but could also embolden disruptive elements.

“I filed the complaint with a very heavy heart. I come from the same community as her and it is an insult to the entire community when she talks so embarrassingly wrong about the home minister. The purpose of this complaint is to ensure that she gets punished and her Parliament membership is revoked,” Samanto said while speaking to news agency ANI in Raipur.

She sought to imply that if the BJP members had read the poem, they would understand that the phrase “beheading” was not meant literally. Moitra concluded her address by advising the saffron party to “keep your heads calm so they aren’t cut off,” and jokingly told them to “do a little Sukumar Ray”.

The infiltration issue has long been a flashpoint between the BJP and the Trinamool. Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have accused the Mamata Banerjee government of turning a blind eye to illegal migration from Bangladesh for electoral gains. The Prime Minister even flagged the concern during his Independence Day address, linking infiltration to demographic changes.
