Rajasthan Police Detain Woman, Lover in Gruesome Drum Murder Case

Jaipur, August 19, 2025: Authorities in Rajasthan’s Khairthal-Tijara district have detained a woman and her alleged lover following the discovery of her husband’s body concealed in a drum on a rooftop, police confirmed on Monday. The victim, identified as Hansram, a resident of Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was found dead with a throat injury caused by a sharp weapon, according to officials cited by PTI.

Hansram had been living in a rented room in Adarsh Colony, Kishangarh Bas, with his wife, Sunita, and their three children for about six weeks. He worked at a local brick kiln. The crime came to light after neighbors reported a foul smell emanating from the property. Police investigations revealed that salt had been applied to the body to accelerate decomposition, a detail disclosed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajendra Singh Nirwan.

Sunita and the landlord’s son, Jitendra, who is believed to be her lover, fled with the couple’s three children after the murder but were apprehended on Monday. The suspects are currently under interrogation as authorities seek to uncover the motive and circumstances surrounding Hansram’s death. The case has drawn comparisons to a similar incident in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, earlier this year, where a man’s dismembered body was found sealed in a cement-filled drum, a crime also linked to an extramarital affair.

Police are continuing their investigation, with forensic teams analyzing evidence at the scene. The detained suspects, Sunita and Jitendra, are being questioned to determine their roles in the murder. The children, who were with the suspects at the time of their detention, have been safely recovered and are being cared for as the investigation progresses.

This shocking case has left the local community in disbelief, and authorities are working diligently to piece together the events leading to this tragic outcome. Further details are expected as the investigation unfolds.
