Maharashtra CM Vows Aid for Families Affected by Deadly Jammu and Kashmir Terror Attack

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has reached out to the families of state residents impacted by a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, pledging comprehensive support. The state government has also sought assistance from the Civil Aviation Ministry to organize a special flight to repatriate the bodies of five Maharashtra victims killed in the assault, according to a statement from Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s office on Wednesday.
The attack, which occurred on Tuesday at a popular tourist spot in Pahalgam, south Kashmir, claimed at least 26 lives and left several others injured, officials reported. Among the deceased were two foreign nationals from the UAE and Nepal, alongside two local residents, authorities confirmed.
In a post on X late Tuesday, Fadnavis noted he had spoken with families of injured tourists from Nagpur and Pune, assuring them of full assistance. Meanwhile, Deputy CM Shinde contacted Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu to request a special flight to transport the bodies of the deceased and facilitate the return of their relatives to Maharashtra.
The statement from Shinde’s office highlighted that five Maharashtra tourists perished in the Pahalgam attack, with their families awaiting their return. Minister Naidu has agreed to the request, the release added.
“Once the Jammu and Kashmir administration provides the list of affected Maharashtra tourists, arrangements will be made to bring everyone back promptly,” the statement concluded.
