As part of increased security measures for Republic Day celebrations, the Delhi Police will use AI-enabled smart glasses with an integrated facial recognition system (FRS) and infrared imaging technology for the first time, according to an official. Employees on the ground will be able to quickly identify people in congested locations thanks to these smart glasses, which are made by an Indian business and will be connected in real-time to the police database of criminals, proclaimed offenders, and suspects.
According to Additional Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Devesh Kumar Mahla, the wearable technology will link to police officers’ cell phones, providing them with access to the system’s complete criminal database. “The police’ cell phones are linked to the glasses, and the entire criminal database is stored on the phones. When someone appears in a green box, it is evident that they are not involved in any criminal activity. A criminal record is indicated if the box turns red. The person will be detained right away if necessary, and the officer can promptly confirm all information,” Additional CP Mahla continued.
