Delhi Police Dismantle ISIS Module, Arrest Two Suspects

New Delhi– The Delhi Police Special Cell has apprehended two individuals suspected of ties to an ISIS terror module, uncovering a plot involving advanced training for suicide attacks. The arrests, made in a coordinated operation, targeted Rizwan Ali and Mufti Tariq, both identified as key operatives in the network.

According to Delhi Police, the suspects were detained on Thursday following intelligence inputs about their activities. The operation was launched after credible information revealed their involvement in a radicalized group linked to ISIS. Authorities disclosed that the duo was undergoing rigorous training for fidayeen-style attacks, aimed at executing high-impact strikes. The police recovered incriminating materials, including extremist literature and digital devices, during searches conducted at their hideouts.

The investigation began after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) shared critical leads with the Delhi Police, pointing to the suspects’ connections with ISIS handlers abroad. The Special Cell’s swift action disrupted the module’s plans, which officials believe were in an advanced stage of preparation. Both suspects, described as highly radicalized, were allegedly communicating with foreign operatives to procure resources and finalize targets.

A senior police official emphasized the significance of the arrests in averting a potential terror threat. The official noted that the module’s activities were under surveillance for weeks, with the operation relying on a combination of human intelligence and technical inputs. The suspects are currently in custody, and interrogations are underway to uncover further details about their network and potential accomplices.

The Delhi Police have registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and other relevant laws. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to dismantle any remaining elements of the module. This operation marks a significant step in India’s efforts to counter ISIS-inspired terrorism, as law enforcement agencies continue to monitor and neutralize emerging threats to national security.
