Delhi High Court Allows Man To Reclaim His 19-Year-Old Car; Home, Vehicle And Even Pets Have Become Special Part Of People’s Lives : Court

New Delhi : The Delhi High Court has allowed a man to reclaim his 19-year-old car from a scrapyard after he agreed to pay a fee of Rs 1.5 lakh. NRI Rajeshwar Nath Kaul’s deep attachment to his 19-year-old car, which he had brought home from abroad, came under the radar after the vehicle exceeded the prescribed age limit. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi subsequently declared it scrap and confiscated it.

Recognising his emotional bond, the court allowed him to reclaim the vehicle from the scrapyard, on the condition that he pay the fee for the days it had been impounded, letting him reclaim the vehicle. In its order, the court said, a home, vehicle and even pets have become a special part of people’s lives. Because of this attachment, they sometimes cross the limits of society and the laws made by it.
