New Delhi : Al-Falah University on Wednesday issued a statement distancing itself from two doctors associated with the institution who have been “detained” by investigating agencies in connection with the Faridabad terror module case. The terror module was busted in Faridabad on Monday when authorities recovered 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate and other inflammable materials from two rented rooms belonging to Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, a Kashmiri doctor employed at Al-Falah Medical College.
A Krinkov assault rifle was also found in a car registered to another doctor, Dr. Shaheen, who has been detained for questioning. A resident of Lal Bagh in Lucknow, was being used by Dr. Muzammil. It was from this vehicle that police recovered the rifle and live cartridges. Dr. Adeel Ahmad Rather, was earlier arrested from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly putting up posters in support of the banned outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed in Srinagar.
Sources said another suspect, Mohammad Umar, also employed as a doctor at Al-Falah Medical College, was part of the same network and had planned the Red Fort blast along with two associates. He reportedly carried out the attack alone after his accomplices were arrested earlier on Monday. An Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) team raided the Lucknow residence of Dr. Shaheen on Tuesday, seizing official records related to her employment.
Investigators believe Dr. Shaheen was allegedly tasked with establishing and leading the women’s wing of the Masood Azhar-led Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in India, under the banner of Jamaat-ul-Momineen, the group’s female operations and recruitment network. In its statement, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Bhupinder Kaur Anand said, “We are deeply shocked and saddened by the unfortunate developments that took place and condemn the same. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the innocent people affected by these distressing events.”
She further clarified that no such chemical or material, as is being alleged by certain platforms, is being used, stored, or handled within the university premises. The university laboratories are used solely and exclusively for the academic and training requirements of MBBS students and other authorised courses. The statement emphasised that every laboratory activity is carried out in strict adherence to established safety protocols, statutory norms, and ethical standards mandated by regulatory authorities.
Reaffirming its commitment to the nation, the university added: “As a responsible institution, we stand in solidarity with the nation and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the unity, peace, and security of our country. The University is extending its full cooperation to the concerned investigating authorities to enable them to arrive at a logical, fair, and conclusive determination in the matter pertaining to national security.”
