Congress’s Headless Modi Post on Pahalgam Gets BJP’s ‘Lashkar-e-Pakistan’ Counter

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday strongly criticized the Congress after its official X account shared a controversial post depicting Prime Minister Narendra Modi without a head, captioned ‘gayab’ (missing), in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that left 26 people dead.
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia accused the Congress of aligning with Pakistan’s agenda, calling it the “Lashkar-e-Pakistan Congress” for what he described as double standards. “At a time when Prime Minister Modi has sent a firm message to Pakistan for sponsoring terrorism, Congress posts a headless image of the PM. This aligns with their ideology of ‘sar tan se juda’,” Bhatia said during a press briefing in Delhi.
Bhatia further alleged that Congress’s criticism of the Indian government was being applauded in Pakistan. “Rather than acting as a responsible Opposition, Congress seeks endorsement from Pakistan. Their leaders and former ministers seem to be gathering praise across the border,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Congress defended its position, questioning Prime Minister Modi’s absence from an all-party meeting on the Pahalgam attack. Congress MP Jairam Ramesh noted that although the Prime Minister had returned from his Saudi Arabia visit on April 24, the day of the meeting, he chose to travel to Bihar for an election rally instead. “He has time for political speeches but not for national concerns?” Ramesh remarked.
Previously, the BJP had attacked Congress over remarks made by some of its leaders regarding the Pahalgam incident. Congress later clarified that these comments represented individual opinions and not the party’s official stance.
Bhatia concluded by questioning the sincerity of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge’s support to the government following the attack, asking, “Is their support real or just for show? Why is there silence from Rahul Gandhi on the controversial post? Why is the Congress aligning itself with Pakistan?”
