Case Against TVK’s Vijay, Bouncers Charged For Manhandling Man At Party Event

Madurai : A case has been registered against Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay and his bouncers after a cadre alleged he was injured during the party’s conference in Madurai held on August 21. He attempted to climb the ramp where Vijay was walking when the bouncers violently pushed him down.

A video of the incident shows Sharath Kumar slipping off the ramp after being pushed, clutching the railing before losing grip and sliding down. I wanted to see him, so I tried to climb on the ramp but bouncers pushed me down. I have sustained injuries, so I have filed a complaint seeking action against those responsible, Kumar said.

Police have registered a case under various sections of the BNS against Vijay and his security personnel. TVK’s massive second state-level conference held at Parapathi in Madurai district drew lakhs of supporters and began with cultural performances, flag hoisting, and pledges by party leaders.

Vijay, 51, made a grand entry on a 300-metre-long ramp built through the centre of the venue, waving to fans and greeting leaders on stage, even as hundreds of bouncers stood guard along the path.
