BSF Jawan Detained by Pakistan Rangers After Inadvertent Border Crossing; Release Discussions Underway

Ferozepur: A Border Security Force (BSF) constable was taken into custody by Pakistan Rangers on Wednesday after mistakenly crossing the international border in Punjab’s Ferozepur sector, officials confirmed on Thursday.

The detained personnel has been identified as Constable P.K. Singh from the BSF’s 182nd battalion. According to officials, Singh was in uniform and armed with his service rifle when the incident occurred. He was escorting a group of farmers and reportedly moved ahead to rest in the shade when he inadvertently stepped across the border and was subsequently apprehended by the Pakistani side.

A flag meeting between BSF and Pakistan Rangers is currently underway to facilitate Singh’s safe return. Authorities noted that such border-crossing incidents have occurred in the past and are typically resolved through mutual coordination between the two forces.

This development follows heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly in the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which has prompted India to adopt stricter measures in response to Pakistan’s alleged support for terrorism.
