Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and the historic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel received bomb threats via email on Saturday from an unidentified sender. The threatening messages were delivered to the airport police station.
According to reports, the emails contained explicit threats to destroy both the international airport and the landmark hotel located in South Mumbai. The messages reportedly referenced Afzal Guru, the Jaish-e-Mohammed operative convicted in the 2001 Indian Parliament attack case, claiming he received “unjust and wrong” punishment. Guru was executed on February 9, 2013, after his mercy petition was rejected by the president.
In response to these threats, Mumbai police have launched an investigation and filed a case against the unknown individual responsible for sending the threatening communications.

In separate news concerning the airport, Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) announced Friday that Indo Thai Airport Services will handle ground operations at the facility for the next three months. This arrangement follows Adani Airport Holdings Ltd’s termination of concession agreements with Celebi NAS at both Mumbai and Ahmedabad airports after the Union government withdrew security clearance for the Turkish firm Celebi, citing national security concerns, according to a PTI report.
MIAL stated that Indo Thai Airport Services has been appointed as the temporary ground handling provider effective immediately. Airport officials have conducted meetings with airlines to ensure a seamless transition during this period.
