BJP MP’s Sister Accuses In-Laws of Assault in UP, Police Register FIR

Agra, Sep 7 (PTI) – A woman claiming to be the sister of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP has accused her in-laws of physical assault, prompting the Agra police to file a First Information Report (FIR) on Saturday, according to officials cited by Deccan Herald. The complainant, a 32-year-old resident of Mau in Uttar Pradesh, alleged that her husband and his family members attacked her over a domestic dispute.

The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, reported the incident to the Mau police station, detailing how her in-laws allegedly beat her. Acting on her complaint, authorities registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The case names her husband and several members of his family as accused, though specific details of the altercation were not revealed by the police.

A senior police official, speaking to Deccan Herald, confirmed that an investigation is underway to verify the allegations. The officer stated that the authorities are taking the matter seriously and will proceed based on the evidence gathered. No arrests have been made as of Saturday, but the police have assured a thorough probe to ensure justice.

The incident has drawn attention due to the complainant’s connection to a prominent BJP MP, though the politician’s identity was not specified in the report. Domestic violence cases involving high-profile families often spark public interest, and this case is no exception, as it unfolds in Uttar Pradesh, a politically significant state.

The Agra police have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward as they continue their inquiries. The FIR marks the initial step in what could be a closely watched case, given its ties to a political figure. Further developments are expected as the investigation progresses, with authorities committed to upholding the law impartially.
